Valentine’s Day should be a day full of love and romance, but most of the time it turns into a hassle and a source of stress as you spend so much time and effort to find the ideal gift.

A thoughtful gift that’s unique to the receiver and was handmade by you is always better than a generic one that everybody can get in a store. Making a nice present from scratch is not as easy but it is totally worth it!

This Valentine’s Day, we will help you out with some ideas. How to make an amazing gift for your loved one that is also beneficial for their health. These presents will help to create a special bond with the recipients and will make them feel extra special, no matter who you plan to give them to. Your family members, your second half or your valued colleagues.

1. A bookmark

If your special person is a reader, consider giving them a book with an essential oil scented bookmark. Or perhaps just a set of bookmarks for them to use wherever they wish.

Essential oil bookmarks only make the experience better.

To make these essential oil infused bookmarks all you have to do is put a couple cotton pads with 2-3 drops of essential oil of your choice on each of them, and put them in a Ziploc bag with the bookmark. Put several bookmarks if you’d like.

Leave it for the night to let the bookmarks take in the scent. Note that leather or fabric bookmarks will hold the aroma longer than paper. Whether your Valentine enjoys diving into the world of fiction (you can use any favorite essential oil here, like relaxing lavender or our blend “Inner peace”) or needs to concentrate on studying or incoming tests (Peppermint and Rosemary oil will help best), essential oil bookmarks will be a perfect gift.

It will be even more dear to your beloved one’s heart if you make the bookmarks yourself! Some of them are not that difficult to make, you’ll just need to cut out paper or fabric and glue or sew parts together. Here is a photo with some ideas:

I found this link with adorable and very simple corner bookmark DIY, you just need to cut 2 corners and sew or hot glue the outer edges of the two sides together, so that this bookmark can fit on the corner of the page.

You can make any shape, including a heart. Here’s the link:

Here’s an idea for a more complex bookmark, but a bit more useful, as it shows exactly the place where you stopped reading.

PS You can infuse your greeting cards with essential oils the same way!

We’ve prepared some free Valentines Day cards you can print and use for yourself with this method!

2. Body and Facial Care

There are so many essential oil recipes for body and facial care. You can find bath soaks and bath bombs, handmade shampoos, toothpastes, different skin moisturizing lotions, creams, various scrubs, and more. It is appealing knowing that your body care is made of natural ingredients and they’re lots of fun to make!

I’ve collected a few recipes here for you. You can make one or even several of them and make a whole gift basket of handmade goodies.

DIY massage bar (you might need to help the gift recipient with using this gift):

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup raw cocoa butter
  • 1/2 tsp. almond oil
  • An essential oil with a scent you prefer – Peppermint for uplifting, Rosemary for focus or Lavender for relaxing & calming mind
  • Silicon heart mold (you can find in a dollar store during this season)

Mix the oils and butter in a pot and melt the mixture at medium low heat. Stir a few times while it’s heating up. Make sure not to boil the oils.

Pour melted mix into silicone mold add essential oils to each “heart” in mold – you can add 2-3 drops. Place the mold into the fridge let it cool for about an hour.

Lightly push each out of the mold. You can keep them in the refrigerator until giving it as a gift. They will melt in hands if you hold them for too long, it is perfect for a romantic massage.

DIY Aftershave Lotion:

  • 1 ounce witch hazel
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerine
  • 1 teaspoon almond oil
  • 3 drops vitamin E oil
  • 5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
  • 4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • A container, a bottle, for storage

Mix all of the ingredients in the bottle. You can also replace mentioned oils with our “Inner Peace” blend, the scent will last longer, just replace the rosemary and peppermint oil with 12 drops of the Inner Peace blend.

How to use: Shake every time before use. Gently rub in shaven skin. Keep in a cool dark place to extend shelf life.

Lavender Lemon Bath Soak:

  • 3/4 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1 tbsp. Dried Lavender Buds
  • 1 tbsp. Skin loving carrier oil (Sweet almond, olive, jojoba, FCO)
  • 1 tbsp. Unscented Liquid Castile soap (this one is important so that your EO’s actually disperse in the bath rather than sit on the top)
  • 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • Zest from Half a Medium-Sized Lemon

Now this is a two part operation, and if you want to give this as a gift be sure to explain how to use it properly or include instructions. It’s not that many steps, but we’re all about safe and proper use here.

In Epsom salt slowly mix in the lavender flowers and the ground up lemon zest and add it to the mix. Stir the mixture well, and after let it sit for 20-30 minutes.

Now, mix the essential oil into the Unscented Liquid Castile soap and than add the moisturizing carrier oil. Store the final mixture in a small bottle and keep with the epsom salt.

Now for your next bath soak mix in the epsom salt and add in the essential oil infused oil. Soak for 20-30 minutes and enjoy the incredibly soothing and aromatic bath!

You can place bath soak in a container and use one of our free labels to mark it.

3. A Perfume

Essential oil is nature’s primary perfume.

Many designers include essential oils in their perfume recipes as they have exceptional and long lasting scents. It is a great gift as you can come up with the remarkable scent the person reminds you of, such as floral lavender, geranium, vanilla, or perhaps spicy cinnamon, bergamot and ginger.

This wonderful natural gift will benefit your loved ones and anyone who is near them. And no harsh chemicals necessary!

The basic perfume mixture consists of all three essential oil notes.

Top note, middle note and base note essential oil, alcohol, and distilled water. For the container you will need an empty 5-ml glass bottle with a roller top or any other glass bottle. It’s important you find a glass bottle as plastic bottles will eventually be eaten away by the essential oils and alcohol. And finally, a label, and tape.

Feel free to use our free labels if you would like.

The ratio of ingredients for the perfume should be:

  • essential oil mixture 15-30%
  • The dilutent 70-85% (65-75% alcohol, at least 80 proof, 5-10% water)

Here’s a simple perfume recipe using our “Inner Peace” blend.

  • 20 drops of “Inner Peace”
  • 70 drops 80 proof alcohol;
  • 10 drops of distilled water or waxy oil like jojoba or coconut. DO NOT add water to oil based perfumes or you may risk growing mold in the finished product.

Mix it all and put in a 5 ml glass bottle. You can download our free Valentine’s day labels here:

4. Melting Heart Slime

So gooey and so much fun! A slime is trendy these days and it’s pretty easy to see why, as it reduces stress and encourages creativity. If you mix in essential oils, they will aid in stress relief and relaxation too.

Therapeutic Slime. Now you have a wonderful reason why you need to sit down and play with slime for a while.

This is a great present not only for kids, but also for adults. One of my favorite DIY posts can be found here:

I would only add 3-5 drops of lavender oil to this recipe and it would be perfect.
